Greetings:
“Education
is an act of love. It is like giving life.” –Pope Francis.
I great you all on this
joyous occasion of our Servite Arts and Science college for Women entering in
the 12th year of academic mission. This development of Servite
College reflects the generosity, tireless effort and committed service of our
Servite family members.
Let us reflect the
words of Nelson Mandela,
“Education
is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world”.
Servite College for
women plays a significant role in shaping the destiny of innumerable first
generation rural and poor young women. The college always strives to promote
them as the guiding stars of humanity. The holistic formation provided with the
servite spirit helps the young women to be aware of their feminine power, to
break all the culture of violence by the patriarchal society and the
empowerment of women towards human liberation. This also gives the clarion call
to work for the protection of nature with ECO-feminine values.
As Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru says
“To awaken the
people, it is the women who must be awakened. Once she is on the move, the
family moves, the village moves, the nation moves”,
Education of women is
the most powerful tool of change of their position in society .Yes. If
we are going to see real development in the world then our best investment
is WOMEN!”
The growth of women’s education in rural India
is very slow. Historically,
rural women are powerful, strong and purposeful. Unfortunately the vulnerable
rural women are deprived by the circumstances of abuse, inequality, and lack of
opportunities. These challenges have hindered their personal development,
economic empowerment, and community leadership.
Rural women make a
quarter of the world’s population. As UN women executive director said ‘rural
women are the invisible mainstay of community resilience and sustainability.
They are the key contributors to agricultural production, food security,
climate advocacy, enterprise, and citizenship. Sadly, the active contribution
and the effort of rural women are not recognized and their full potentials
underutilized. In this context our Servite Arts and Science College for Women is
considered as a blessing by many of the young rural women for fulfilling their
dream of studying Higher education.
We have a superb, dedicated,
enthusiastic teaching team where the focus is always on the holistic
development of every student to reach to their potential. There are a large
number of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities in which all students
are encouraged to participate. Student Leadership and Student Voice are very
important in the daily life of the college.
We work in very close
partnership with parents in order to help students to realize their potential
and enjoy their experience as a student in Servite College. We are always concentrating
on the integral formation of our students. Further, we constantly strive to
achieve more in our mission of academic excellence. Our journey continues
towards the awakening of women power.
Some of the glimpses of our mission are shown
in the website. We hope you will enjoy looking at our website.
With loving regards
Dr.Sr.Alphonse Roseline Mary OSM, Principal.
